Consumer Protection Act Takes Restores and Protects the Rights of Every Consumer
Consumer rights have been very crucial for the Government of India and many provisions have been made from time to time for safeguarding those. The Parliament of India brought into action Consumer Protection Act, 1986 with a motive to safeguard the interests of the consumers. Settlement of consumer disputes, setting up of consumer councils and many other issues are taken care under this act. This act came into action on December 24, 1986 and in the assembly, it had been passed in the month of October in the same year. Post all these legalities, December 24 is observed as Consumer Protection Day every year.
Consumer Should Be Fully Aware of their Rights
Now, in the country, no consumer can be fooled if he/she is aware of his/her rights. Knowing the rights is mandatory before filing any case because the application could be filed only by keeping such points in consideration. Consumer Protection Act cases deal with the injustices or disputes related to consumers and those are resolved to find out a justified solution to the problem. Indian Government has made rules and laws for protecting the consumers in every possible way and there are certain penalties for those who try to violate the rights of consumers or fool them.
Supposedly, if a seller is selling defective items to his/her customers, then actions should be taken against him/her. For example, if the seller manufactures parts of a scooter, and those turn out to be malfunctioned or defective, then the seller can be dragged to the court by the consumers. Penalties in such case can be financial compensation, replacement of defective items with good and functional items etc. However, in the first place, the buyer should confirm that the source of buying items is authentic and registered. In case of buying items from a registered retailer, it is quite easier to file case if any defect occurs.
